"The LPAA Heads to Boston"

Next month, the LPAA will be on full display in Boston during the 2018 ASHA Annual Convention. New this year, Aphasia Access will be hosting a "Dinner with the Directors" on the night before the annual aphasia community breakfast. 

Dinner with the Directors (Wednesday, November 14th, 5:30-7:30 at the Hillel House at Boston University)

Dinner with the Directors is an event designed to empower administrators, executive directors, speech-language pathologists, and key leaders already operating or desiring to shift to a life participation approach to aphasia framework. You do not have to be a director to benefit from, or contribute to, this event.

Harkening back to the initial meetings that led up to the formation of Aphasia Access, attendees will be asked to share benchmarking data on their program. This knowledge sharing will mean that everyone at the dinner will leave with a data set that holds the potential to spur strategic adjustments to current programs and identify pathways to real growth as well.

Highlighting the evening will be a look at the concept of innovation within aphasia programs. Attendees will look at a number of current case studies, helping actual centers tackle challenges they currently face. In the process, the group will be reminded that innovation can come from a host of sources, including initiatives currently underway.

The annual aphasia community breakfast has turned into what one attendee called a "true kickoff to ASHA." Last year, over 100 colleagues and friends got together for a morning of networking and small group discussions on topics of the day. This year, the formula will be the same even though the topics may change. It's a wonderful event, hosted by Aphasia Access, the National Aphasia Association, and other community leaders.
