Awards
At the 2019 Leadership Summit in Baltimore, Aphasia Access presented its two most prestigious awards - the Audrey Holland Award and the Aphasia Access Innovator Award - both of which acknowledge excellence in aphasia care and recognize the vital importance of the Life Participation Approach (LPAA). The Audrey Holland Award is the organization's highest recognition, acknowledging distinguished contribution to the LPAA. Congratulations to Dr. Roberta Elman (Aphasia Center of California) for this well-deserved honor along with your inspiring leadership in the aphasia community! The Aphasia Access Innovator Award recognizes the work of an Aphasia Access member who has considered the LPAA from a novel and diverse perspective and addressed challenges in a creative and innovative manner. In 2019, two recipients of the Innovator Award were named - Ellen Bernstein-Ellis (California State University at East Bay) and Jerome Kaplan (Boston University). We cannot thank our 2019 Award Winners enough for the breadth of their contributions to aphasia care, the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia (LPAA) and communication access in healthcare. You truly have made a difference. |
